About Minia University

It is an Egyptian university located in Minya Governorate, about 266 km south of Cairo. Minya University was initially established as a branch of Assiut University in 1966, then became independent by Republican Decree No. of 1976. The university campus is located north of the city of Minya The image of Queen Nefertiti was chosen inside an open book as the university's emblem, and the head of Nefertiti is the emblem of Minya Governorate due to her historical and ideological role in the history of ancient Egypt. The head of Nefertiti was found in the Tel el-Amarna area, far south of Minya Governorate, as it was depicted in all tombs in this region.
